Tell me about your experience with HighView.
HighView is the best program I’ve ever joined. [The HighView team] does a phenomenal job understanding the students that are part of HighView – what they’re passionate about and what they’re struggling with – and incorporates that into the lessons we learn. When I say “lessons,” I’m not talking about professors just standing up there talking about the subjects you’re interested in – I’m talking about business owners, entrepreneurs & CEOs coming in and talking to you and engaging with you. For me, I’m very passionate about Marketing. We had one lesson in which I was so mind blown with learning about all the specific types of marketing out there. That’s truly one thing I love and admire about HighView: it’s genuinely fun and it’s very authentic. These people care and they want to see you grow. I honestly encourage anyone who has the opportunity to apply. I think it’s a very life changing program.
Favorite part about the HighView program:
For me, I like to dress up. I like to look professional sometimes. The experience of feeling like I was grown, like I had somewhere to go, and fitting in with everyone else felt really good. It was really fun. It made me feel like I was in the real world.
With every workshop, I took away a lot of things. In particular, the interview workshop and the public speaking workshop – I gained a lot from those two. Even on Zoom, the presenter did a really good job. We were paired up with random people and that really pushed me to speak up. Even if I felt uncomfortable, I took away a lot from those lessons.
Do you have any unique personal circumstances or obstacles that you’ve had to overcome that have motivated you to succeed?
Being the first person in my family to graduate and go to college – it’s been an obstacle. But Nicole and my mentors really really helped me. I don’t think I could do it without any of you. Especially with school. You made the process so much easier for me and I really appreciate that.
Any advice for students considering applying to HighView?
Do it. Actually do it. It’s been such a great experience all around. Why wouldn’t you do it? Every day is exciting. You never know what you’re going to do or who you’re going to talk to. You’re going to learn a lot, you’re going to grow, you’re going to have great mentors and network – everything is just perfect.
